• It has been 6 weeks since my first bodybuilding show. I am sitting at around 135 lbs which is more or less my body’s set point. I was around 138 lbs this time last year. The difference in weight won’t sound significant to you, but in reality, my body composition has improved within a year. This means I’ve gained a good amount of lean mass and lost a nice amount of fat in order to stay around the same weight. It’s really obvious in my upper body as it was under-developed compared to my lower body last year. I’ve gained a ton of deltoids and arms, which I am proud of.

  • I no longer look at food and see its macronutrient makeup! I no longer eat for sustenance and function!

  • I started on the TruffleRuby team at Shopify this week. I am stoked to be working with new smart people! This pretty much always goes without saying but I’m looking forward to learning brand new things outside of my comfort zone.

  • I took Friday off to relax. Honestly, vacation days just don’t hit the same way since COVID happened. I don’t feel particularly relaxed though I suppose it is good to have a break from work once in a while.

  • My partner enjoys playing video games during his free time. Feeling inspired, I set up my PC to play some games and… I just couldn’t. I thought I’d be interested in gaming again but I just could not bring myself to do it. I also didn’t like how cluttered my desk was with the additional peripherals lying around. I don’t think I enjoy video games as much as I did when I was younger. For some reason, I can’t bring myself to enjoy it. (I’m also ashamed to admit that I saw the Steam sale and bought some games that I didn’t end up playing.)

  • I spent some time with my mum and my cousin over the weekend. We got some Southern BBQ takeout to celebrate my mum’s belated birthday. I was on prep on her birthday this year so we didn’t do much to celebrate. I enjoyed the food but I felt uber greasy and bloated afterward. I don’t remember the last time I had Southern BBQ. I think I will keep that meal as an annual thing.

  • I bought a hunter green coloured slip lead from the local pet store (among other pet items) and I can’t wait to use it. Both of us have green winter coats and a green leash would be a great addition for the puppy. I don’t know why but I can’t stop thinking about how perfect that shade of green is to match our little family. An odd thing to obsess about, but I think I am just really excited for a new life experience.

  • I finished reading Hank Green’s An Absolutely Remarkable Thing and reallllllly liked it. I didn’t read description of the book so I didn’t know what to expect. At first, I felt a little nervous and skeptical that a middle-aged white man is writing from the perspective of a bisexual young woman. But it seems like he did his research.

The story was a little slow at the beginning but the plot picked up real fast. I couldn’t put the book (Kindle) down towards the second half. The twists and mysteries within a modern social-media setting were very engaging. Also, aliens! Anyway, I am now reading the sequel, A Beautifully Foolish Endeavor.

  • I haven’t trained at all this week, though I am still maintaining 10,000 steps a day on average. I still feel like a bum sometimes but it’s totally okay to take some time off the gym.
